My Favorites in Normandy

Normandy offers far more than its famous landmarks. Beyond the well-known attractions lies a wealth of hidden gems, welcoming businesses, fascinating museums, charming accommodations, excellent restaurants, and local artisans that help create unforgettable travel experiences.

Over the years, as a licensed tour guide, a local resident of the Bessin area, and a former tourism advisor at a tourist office, I have had the opportunity to discover countless sites, accommodations, restaurants, shops, and local producers throughout the region. This unique combination of professional and local experience has given me an in-depth knowledge of Normandy, both on and off the beaten path.

This page brings together a selection of my personal favorites: museums I particularly enjoy, charming places to stay, restaurants I happily recommend to visitors, local producers, quality shops, and a few lesser-known places that capture the true spirit of Normandy.

Whether you are planning your trip, looking for dining suggestions, searching for a unique place to stay, or hoping to discover hidden treasures beyond the guidebooks, I hope these recommendations will help you experience Normandy from a local perspective.

These suggestions are based entirely on my personal experience. They are not intended to be a ranking or a complete directory, but rather a collection of places that I appreciate for their quality, authenticity, hospitality, and connection to the region.

For more information about any museum, accommodation, restaurant, business, or service, simply click on the links provided. You will be able to access their websites directly for opening hours, reservations, availability, and additional details.

I hope these recommendations will help you discover another side of Normandy through places, people, and experiences that I believe are truly worth exploring.

D-Day Museums

The Landing Beaches and the Battle of Normandy have inspired the creation of numerous museums. Some are internationally renowned, while others are smaller and less known but equally fascinating. Whether you are passionate about military history or simply curious to better understand the events of 1944, these museums provide valuable insight into the battles, personal stories, and challenges of the Liberation.
Here is a selection of museums that I particularly appreciate for the quality of their collections, their educational approach, and the emotions they inspire.
