D-Day Museums
The Landing Beaches and the Battle of Normandy have inspired the creation of numerous museums. Some are internationally renowned, while others are smaller and less known but equally fascinating. Mon coup de cœur : D-Day Omaha Museum ❤
More discreet than some of the region's larger museums, the D-Day Omaha Museum offers a particularly immersive experience thanks to its outstanding virtual reality presentation. Equipped with a VR headset, visitors are transported into the heart of the landing of the U.S. 29th Infantry Division on Omaha Beach, experiencing the events of June 6, 1944, from the soldiers' perspective. It is a powerful and moving experience that perfectly complements a visit to the historical sites and provides a deeper understanding of the realities of D-Day.
Airborne Museum – Sainte-Mère-Église
Located in the heart of the famous town of Sainte-Mère-Église, the Airborne Museum is dedicated to the American paratroopers of the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions. Modern and immersive, it features an outstanding collection of artifacts, vehicles, and aircraft, including an authentic C-47 transport plane. The exhibits provide a vivid understanding of the airborne operations carried out during the night of June 5–6, 1944.
Pegasus Memorial Museum – Ranville

During the night of June 5–6, 1944, soldiers of the British 6th Airborne Division captured the bridge in a daring glider assault. The first major museum in France dedicated to the Battle of Normandy, this museum provides a comprehensive overview of the military operations conducted between June and August 1944. Utah Beach Landing Museum
Built directly on Utah Beach, this museum tells the story of the American landings in the Cotentin Peninsula. The exhibition follows the preparation of the operation, the events of June 6, and the advance
toward Cherbourg. One of its highlights is the presence of an authentic B-26 Marauder bomber, a rare aircraft in Europe today.
Overlord Museum – Colleville-sur-Mer

Located just a short distance from the American Cemetery, the Overlord Museum houses one of the largest private collections dedicated to the Battle of Normandy. Caen Memorial Museum – Caen
Much more than a museum dedicated to D-Day, the Caen Memorial is one of Europe's leading museums devoted to the history of the 20th century. D-Day Museum – Arromanches
Located directly opposite the remains of the Mulberry artificial harbor, the D-Day Museum in Arromanches is one of the best places to understand the logistical success of Operation Overlord. Through models, archival films, and wartime artifacts, it tells the story of the extraordinary engineering achievement that allowed Allied forces to supply troops after June 6, 1944.

Often overlooked by visitors, the MAHB is nevertheless one of Normandy's finest museums. Housed in the former Bishop's Palace of Bayeux, it features diverse collections ranging from archaeology and porcelain to fine art and local history.

La Cité de la Mer – Cherbourg
Housed in Cherbourg's former transatlantic maritime terminal, La Cité de la Mer invites visitors to explore the fascinating world of the oceans. A nuclear submarine, aquariums, and exhibits dedicated to great maritime adventures make this a captivating visit for all ages.
Tatihou Island
Accessible at low tide or by amphibious boat, Tatihou Island is a true haven of peace. Maritime heritage, Vauban fortifications, and beautiful gardens combine to create a timeless escape just off the coast of Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue.
Bayeux Tapestry Museum

The hotel also boasts a fascinating history. During the Battle of Normandy in 1944, many Allied war correspondents and journalists stayed here while reporting on events unfolding across the Landing Beaches and the Norman countryside. Some of the greatest reporters of their generation passed through its doors, making Le Lion d'Or one of the iconic centers of the international press during the Liberation.
